Do not see

When I look in the mirror

I do not see

the beauty

that others find in me.

When they wax eloquently

to explain the way my smile brightens

and my eyes sparkle with laughter;

all I can see are over large teeth

and the wrinkles that cover my face.

I do not see the wonder and joy

I cannot comprehend the whys of it all.

I do not know what draws them within

and keeps them close to my bones.

I stare deeply into the mirror

searching,

seeking,

still unable to see

why they are called to me.

Untitled 13

***Picture is one of my own***

You move in and out of my orbit

pulling me close

shutting me out

until I can see no longer.

When you are here

life is so much sweeter.

Water tastes of wine

and our mouths meet with strawberry kisses.

When you are gone

black clouds loom overhead.

Thunder shakes my heart

and the cold is piercing.

I have a want

a desire.

I have a need

a hunger that only you can sate.
