Wake Up

It is very hard for me

to wait

to be patient

while you dance with play toys

and I watch from the distance.

There were no rules

there were no plans

there were no expectations

yet

I cannot lie

I have fallen head over heels

dying a little inside

each time you ignore me.

I have taken a stand

I have backed off

backed up

turned off my heart

turned off my head

I will remain on the outskirts

until you finally wake up.

A single hard working mom of a soon to be teenage son. A poet and story teller I have wanted to write since I was a child. This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom

  1. The waiting is such a nagging ache. Just because we are patient doesn’t mean we don’t experience the longing. A timely and appreciated poem for me…
