Drowning

I need to tell you a story
about a girl with no belief
in herself
in her intelligence
thought it was her body
she had to rely on.
A toy for so many men
her heart crippled
dusty
shuttered
head beant before the blows
always waiting
knowing
the fist is coming
the slap across the face.
She fell in love.
With a man true.
He saw beneath the raging glitter
the clown smile
to the tears
fears
desires of a woman drowning.
Throwing a lifeline
buoy
drawing her near
wrapping her
keeping her
clear of her demons.
Shuddering
exhausted
falling to his feet
no longer does she need to be strong
no longer does she need…..
he lifts her up
kiss upon her brow
safety found
at last.

A single hard working mom of a soon to be teenage son. A poet and story teller I have wanted to write since I was a child. This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom
