Nightmare

Wading
wandering
lost
grey mimosa of pain
sorrow
death
desperation
never sure where this road will end.
Cobblestones
painted black with blood
cracked
fractured
tripping
dragging down those caught in its net.
I seek
anything that will indicate
where I am lost
how I can be found
only to discover more pain
mouths opened in silent screams.
Forest of hanging bodies
notes
pinned to rotted flesh.
Indication of the sins they were convicted of.
I begin to feel fear
to feel wrong
this is not a world
in which I belong.
Broken down
stripped to the the bone
crumple to my knees in agony.
Talons pierce my skull
dragging me upwards
towards the tower of anguish
hope fleeing
mouth screaming
there is no escape
no way out
of this nightmare I have dreamed.
