Indifferent

We live
breath in black death
consumed with the next thing
instant gratification
at the push of a button.
Everything…..
absolutely everything…..
one could want
found today
as one side of the earth
reaches to the other.
Buy now…..
worship in the lord’s house….
ask no questions…..
acquiesce
lambs to the slaughter.
Drama created
sleight of hand
deflection
see only what they want
hear only what they want
sit
benumbed
glare of white light from  the t.v. screen.
Peel back the curtain
find the wizard is just a man
silvered tongue
all will listen.
Now the ploy begins to come undone.
View with open eyes
shackles unseen
populace not knowing
they have become slaves.
Vapid smiles
marionettes dancing
strings jerked
noose around their necks
waiting for the stool to be kicked.
Remove rose from eyes
see the truth
see what has been hidden.
White ash in your mouth
bitter
vile
caustic
acid on your tongue.
Words left unspoken.
Warnings never given.
Head falls
dejected.
There is no saviour.
There is no saving.
Indifferent that is what they are.

***The picture prompt was provided for me by a friend. This was a challenge as I moved outside my norm. It took me a bit to write as I had the idea and pictures I needed to find the words.

This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom

  1. You’re beginning to sound a bit like your brother..

Just curious, what does the part about worshipping in the lord’s house mean?

      1. And I really hate it.. it turns a lot of people away. But not all are bad. Just have to really be sincere with the Lord to lead you where He wants you to be.

  2. I love it! Very different from your other poems! I especially like “Peel back the curtain
find the wizard is just a man
    silvered tongue
    all will listen.
Now the ploy begins to come undone.”
