New Reality

When first upon the scene he did burst

no one could foresee

the evil

the horror

the degradation

he would call down on them.

History.

Time on repeat. 

Children held in crates

families torn asunder

belittled

berated

wanting only to have a better life

to soothe the bruises

broken bones

damaged psyche

born of cruel men.

Flagrant is the disrespect

the vulgarity of honor

underlying rules

broken with no regard

other than

to fill the coffers of the rich

while denying the poor

basic sustenance.

A country

once strong

once seen to be the cornerstone

the foundation upon which

everything else is built…..

falling

descending

to the pits of hell

where the beast waits.

We have done this.

We must take responsibility.

We,

the people…..

must take a stand

proving that bigotry

racism

hatred

are not the norm

but the exception……

Tear away the faded curtain

peer at the silent whore

crystal tears falling

her slow death rattle

filling every corner

every space

no escape

no relief

a new reality.
