Word of the Day Challenge #46-Untitled Poem

No one gave you the throne
you stole it
placing upon your head
a crown of thorns
of brambles
biting
melding with
your wretched brow.
‘Bend your knee
Kiss the ring’
all words you chose to sing.
Fool I was
sucked in
bought so cheaply
false words
fraudulent declarations
of love…..
of life …..
of future…..
I was blind.
Denying
the mirage I knew was there
choosing……
to ignore
to discount
black pit yawning
deep within.
Facade slowly crumbles
spell broken
I have to wonder
what need had I
that you filled?
Rose colored lens
scratched
reality bleeds in
and I see…….
when adoration falls
when truth is seen
unadorned
braggart
bastard
egocentric…..
I walk away.
Head held high.
No longer thrumming
no longer driving
no longer in my veins
the addiction I had
the hunger you fed
gone
to bother me no more.

Lout of Office

Thought it would be easy
thought it was a game
thought it was an easy con
when in truth
more work must be done
so as to cover
so as none can discover
what a fraud you are.
Speaking in tongues
gibberish
penned quotes
attributed to self
never realizing
(thinking)
anyone would catch you out.
Fingers pointed
voices raised
talk over all others
(bullying)
for when you do
it makes you god
or
rather in your mind
it does.
Deception
trip from lips
curved in smirk
lean back
wave a hand
snap your fingers
maybe a genie will appear
to grant all your wishes.
History has been scoured
looked through
examined
there is no one like you
(hope is:
there will never be another like you)
your inabilities
your cretinous behaviour
perfect to illustrate
how things should not be done.
Assured you are
a place in history…..
too bad
so sad
all it will show
is what a fool you were
(are)
portraits of the future
will show you in jester’s motley
capering
monkey’s fool
how do you not hear the laughter?

Moonlit Wonder

When I was a young  girl
mama warned me
showed me true
all would try to use me
to get what they want.
Sweet words
cooed in my ear
slowly stroking my hair
feeling your hand
(all hands)
caress my curves.
Made to feel safe
made to feel secure
your promises
wrapped in golden ribbons
bubble around
protecting me from the world.
(First razor word
sliced through my heart)
Crimson blood wells
anger
rage
black
foul
turns like a knife
battlefield on my skin
mouth your inanitites
eyes flat
broken
your lies float in the air
tangible.
(There is no escape
there is no where to run
I will find you always
promised on the wind)
One…..
Two…..
Three…..
Twenty-Nine…..
Forty…..
Forty One.
I thought for sure
as I record your name
in my Book of Death
that you were the end
only to discover
that mama was right
men should never be trusted.

Shield Maiden

Craven men
crawl through the forest
unable to fight
unable to face
under cover of black magic
tear apart thy enemy
best make sure they’re all dead.
Mewling child
hid away
even as kin is slain
eyes aglitter with hatred
even as tears streak her cheeks
heart hardens
stone cold
her knife comes to hand.
Cowardly bastards
afraid what they knew not of
whipped to false courage
by golden tongue queen
she of devil art.
Third eye blind.
Grew she did
child of the night
sliding between the shadows
dancing between sheathed blades
learning assassin art.
There would be time
all did reason
for her to become a Queen
Now
to become an assassin
learn to dance
Poisoned airs
paranoia
looking over her shoulder
surrounded with
by
protectors with blades
axes
wonder if they really care?
Thick midnight
stars swallowed
crested moon devoured.
Silence throughout the land
betwixt
midnight hour
bleeding dawn
time has come.
Upon Ice Throne sits….
She devil
Usurper
devoured by evil
forsaken by good
She waits……
cometh the Viking Child.

Mistress Strength

Beseeching
eyes pleading
do not walk away
do not leave me
when you promised to stay.
Hurling harsh words
harmony gone
fled on the wind
with bitter calls.
Thunder roars
lightening crackles
you shall be destroyed.
Gutted
black evil arising
laying on the crossroads
tears falling
hand upraised
while you pull away
walk away
with nary a glance back.
Wrath
crimson bled
searing my senses
vision narrowing
until all I can see is you.
I warned you once
I begged you twice
thrice on bended knee
not to leave me
not to serve me
on a silver platter.
Yet you did.
Laughing
chastising
making me forget my worth
you laid me bare
a silver knife to the face.
Who is laughing now?
Certainly ain’t you
’cause I have you
hung on the wall
picture perfect
silly regard
you can hurt no one
for I shall stand guard.

New World

Thought yourself safe you did
hiding in the forest
hiding in the desert
running from me
running to them
reaching for the ends of the earth
hoping I would never find you.
Left behind a trail of woes
of heartache
of betrayal
of disrepair
women
children
men
none are safe from the greed of your game
none are safe from the immorality you parade
redesigning the world
in your own grandiose narcassism
cutting off your nose
to spite your face.
Crawl on your belly
snake that you are
hoping the grass will cover.
Cower
beg
on your knees
time has come to pay.
You thought you were agile
your thoughts
your words
playing games
mumbling one way
gunning the other
bring the pack together
desiring to do your dirty deeds.
When you don a god like aspect
you shall tumble and fall
destroyed by your own idiocy
your own vileness
making it easier to find.
Sighted down the barrel
taken in silence
standing over
watching the light fade from your eyes.
Walked away
left you there in the streets
a warning to others
narcissistic
psychotic
all will fail
all will fall
there is no place for you
or them
in this new world order.
