Word of the Day Challenge #46-Untitled Poem

No one gave you the throne
you stole it
placing upon your head
a crown of thorns
of brambles
biting
melding with
your wretched brow.
‘Bend your knee
Kiss the ring’
all words you chose to sing.
Fool I was
sucked in
bought so cheaply
false words
fraudulent declarations
of love…..
of life …..
of future…..
I was blind.
Denying
the mirage I knew was there
choosing……
to ignore
to discount
black pit yawning
deep within.
Facade slowly crumbles
spell broken
I have to wonder
what need had I
that you filled?
Rose colored lens
scratched
reality bleeds in
and I see…….
when adoration falls
when truth is seen
unadorned
braggart
bastard
egocentric…..
I walk away.
Head held high.
No longer thrumming
no longer driving
no longer in my veins
the addiction I had
the hunger you fed
gone
to bother me no more.

Lout of Office

Thought it would be easy
thought it was a game
thought it was an easy con
when in truth
more work must be done
so as to cover
so as none can discover
what a fraud you are.
Speaking in tongues
gibberish
penned quotes
attributed to self
never realizing
(thinking)
anyone would catch you out.
Fingers pointed
voices raised
talk over all others
(bullying)
for when you do
it makes you god
or
rather in your mind
it does.
Deception
trip from lips
curved in smirk
lean back
wave a hand
snap your fingers
maybe a genie will appear
to grant all your wishes.
History has been scoured
looked through
examined
there is no one like you
(hope is:
there will never be another like you)
your inabilities
your cretinous behaviour
perfect to illustrate
how things should not be done.
Assured you are
a place in history…..
too bad
so sad
all it will show
is what a fool you were
(are)
portraits of the future
will show you in jester’s motley
capering
monkey’s fool
how do you not hear the laughter?
