Word of the Day Challenge #43-Untitled Poem

I have a tiny secret
one that I hold dear
for were others to notice
it would be my failure.
cool ice clinks
smooth drink over the tongue
soft waning of the the pain
that follows me
hour after hour
day after day
week after week
year after………
I shall not be this weak.
I shall not be this fallible.
I shall overcome
put to rest
excise these demons
that must be fed
with turmoil
with fear
with any substance
that will shut them up.
Nattering in my ear
running burr covered fingers
through hair
scratching my face
my back
tearing from me
one black bead at a time
a feast for many.
Set the smoky glass
burning smiles
where I can see it
where I can consume it
where I can strike it from the table.
my reality
my life
no longer will I dance
lead by demons of hate.

I am a single hard working mom in her 40's. I have always written poetry and I love words. I live with depression and its ups downs. This is a space where I can create and write all that I need to.

    1. I usually write first and then look for picture. I mostly get off Pinterest the pictures. I also have a board where I pin pics that I think would be great. I use those as a prompt if I am not able to come up with something for Word Challenge of the Day. It is not hard to tap into your dark side let out all the dark thoughts that reside in your mind. I am a dark person in general lol actually quite sunny and friendly which makes people wonder what really goes on inside my head. 😂😂😂

      1. No so far I only post my work here. I also post on Flyhiee.com and The Best Life Collaborative. Next week is the week I post on both. Also trying not successfully to create new poems for a collection I would like to publish eventually.

      1. I was going for sci-fi/dark in my last post and just couldn’t get it…. not my best writing but I don’t think they’re bad.. I wasn’t pulling the stories out of the pictures that were really there…
