Word of the Day Challenge #50-Untitled Poem

Words
rip strips from souls
gathering in wounds
laced with cyanide
a killing strike
brings you to your knees
tears falling
no succor for the innocent.
Blindsided in the night
strength torn into naught
haunted by nightmares
vile anguish
how many more times will you pretend?
Cloudless sky
inky black no moon arises
taken with savage disregard
left a hollow shell
side of the road
rain falling down
what have they done?
Tides are turning
blood is coming
ruin not far behind
run through the terrors
duck behind depleted crosses
wolves baying
hunting those who striped from you…..
life
desire
trust
leaving behind a wraith of revenge.
Cruel they were
sadistic brethren
now ’tis they who face the scourge
whilst upon the sidelines
battered body
tattered face
you watch
a grim smile upon your lips.

I am a single hard working mom in her 40's. I have always written poetry and I love words. I live with depression and its ups downs. This is a space where I can create and write all that I need to.
