Word of the Day Challenge #58-Untitled Poem

Scurry along
close to the ground
tidy piece of gossip
bit between the teeth
must share
for he
for she
for they all
have gone insane.
Laws are on the chopping block
highest bidder can overturn
cease to play
all those rules
let the world learn to stay.
Like a dog
on a leash
tugged along
beware the growling threat
its teeth are sharp
do not forget.
Bleeding
money thrown to appease the gods
risen falsely
glory in adulation
walk across the backs of the forsaken
willing to commit crimes
in broad daylight
unafraid
there will be no consequences.
Roman Emperors
burn cities
deplete the coffers
shutter libraries
murder dissenters
(those who speak out against…..
cronyism
nepotism
favoritism to the nth degree)
how long before it is noticed.
Voices begin to rise
melding together in one tone
calling out the traitor
calling out the inner circle
better run
it is now…..

I am a single hard working mom in her 40's. I have always written poetry and I love words. I live with depression and its ups downs. This is a space where I can create and write all that I need to.
