Wraith’s Reprisal

A game
for rich men
procured at nary a cost
for who cares about the runaways
about the losers
about the forgotten
absolutely no one.
Haven sent
not heaven
a safe place
not without sin
a price will be paid
only
not the way they promised
such an ugly way to die.
Forced through a maze
dwindled down
from thirty
to twenty
to ten
to…..
hunted
taken down
human deer
sickening is it not
yet they are here still.
Through darkness
stalk the stalker
close enough
chilly breath
flinch they will.
Reach out
skeletal fingers
dipped in poison
gouging eyes out
dropping unfeasted
too much evil in this one.
Iced grimace
cobalt blue lips
vengence
mine to wrought
for all they did.
Each one
save for him
are dead
or almost there.
Gliding slowly over grass
I raise my head
eyes alit
so he can see
so he can remember
before I…..
jagged tear
fount of blood
bathe in holy spirit.
I did not beg for release
but he did
I have learned
how to twist the pain
make it burn
for all of eternity.

This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom
