Payment Due

Stars flash across the sky
inky black
pray for a wish
upon dead light
that your secret will remain
nasty scar upon the soul
belladonna in your veins.
Steady
count each step
each breath
pausing at the crack of…..
nothing
continue forward
heart racing
pounding
are you going to death?
Close
trees gather inward
were they like this back then?
Another sound
growl
swivel around
and around.
Murk
ebony so dark
you cannot see your hand
you cannot see me behind you
following
intent
the answer is near.
Wind rocks graceless branches
crackles
cackles
you fall into the glade
glad for the moonlight.
I glide out behind you
wraith silent
waiting for you to begin
to bring to sight
my sister’s lifeless body
then the prediction I made
the day she disappeared
that you would pay
is about to come true.

I am a single hard working mom in her 40's. I have always written poetry and I love words. I live with depression and its ups downs. This is a space where I can create and write all that I need to.
