Word of the Day Challenge #76-Untitled Poem

I was sitting in the comfort of my chair
watching the news
my reality one of first world problems
there is nothing for me to worry.
Cold
watching the scenes of devestation
desensitized
picture after picture
showing death
hunger
unrepentant greed
what is this world that we create
condone
with the click of a button
we can make it all go away.
Spun around
up and away
torn from safety
dropped in the war
any war
so I can see….
the truth
the brutality
to become aware
that within my own inaction
I give to men
men who care nothing of me
power to run my life
dictate to me
while docile
tame at their feet.
Fight for nothing
other than to keep from finding peace
as the money maker would become obsolete.
Rich men becoming richer
upon all those unnecessary deaths.
Eyes wide open
awake
I can no longer deny
a nasty taste left in my mouth
acid tears seep
poison in my soul
I shall never again sleep.

A single hard working mom of a soon to be teenage son. A poet and story teller I have wanted to write since I was a child. This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom
