Word of the Day Challenge #98-Untitled Poem

Masquerade
faces shadowed
sneered lips
dragon tears
heady sensation
head so light
falling forward
sensual delight.
Silk against bare skin
whispered kiss
sliding
awe struck…..
never having seen…..
splendor as such.
Gold inked panels
marble veined floors
country girl
big city man
sweep me off my feet
take my heart
take my hand
hold me close.
Masked ballet
time to say hello
fizzed drink
something is wrong
fear
spikes through me
swirling
 twirling
  falling…..
awaken
altar strapped
gown rent.
Look around
no escape
men
only men
leer round
ready to gape.
Mama was right
ran through my head
faded though it be
ain’t no man so generous
without wanting to take
something sacred
something  you will not want to give.

A single hard working mom of a soon to be teenage son. A poet and story teller I have wanted to write since I was a child. This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom

  1. This is brutal and paints a visceral, violent picture without using explicit imagery. The picture you have used adds to that foreboding sense of dread.
