Sweet Lies

This poem was prompted by ‘Mother’ written by EntangleDesigns.
Fairy tales
maternal influence
leaving sullen daughter
for blighted step-mother to abuse.
What if
step-mother is not needed
abuse rains down
from one who is suppose to love
to teach
to protect
is the one who is cruel
who shatters innocence
secret demands.
Scarlet scars
thin white slices
tears squalled
bitten lip
never give in
never give satisfaction.
this day
to celebrate
celebrated cheer
I could not hate more.
You broke me
you sold me
you stole my childhood dear
why ever did you become a mom
when you despised me so much?

A single hard working mom of a soon to be teenage son. A poet and story teller I have wanted to write since I was a child. This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom

    1. Thank you so much. This week has been a dark week regarding my writing which is so odd as I actually begin holidays for 10 days today. We always give praise and love to the women who love and tend to us but that is not always the case and based on the other work my creativity was spurred. 🙂

  1. This is so sad Jay. I also read the post that prompted you and that equally sad. What horrors children have to carry in their lives 😢. A big hug for you. I know you are a wonderful mother 🙂🥰❤️
