Law of Pestilence

grey soaked clouds
low hung in sky
goodness long defeated
rubble ruin at my feet.
Stand upon the mountain top
eyes far seeing
staff in hand
holds me upright
weigh down my shoulders.
wasting into nothingness
sins gathered
demons called upon
there is no righteousness
there is no goodness
there is only a vast wrath
gathering upon the horizon.
Steeds of death
descend upon innocents
razor thin death
fog dense with hatred
above all
you rise to rule.
Violence heralded
disgust bubbles
reality intrudes
pictures no longer hidden
lies uncovered
best flee to the skies
like charlatan of Oz
while I look on
for there shall be no victory
there shall be no return
life as we have known it to be
is now warping into something else…..
malignant malevolence

    1. Thank you so much. When I saw today’s word I knew it was going to be a dark poem. I kept coming back to victory and ashes and it went from there. It did not flow out like some of my others it took a little thinking. I crafted this one today. I am in a great mood but the weather is gloomy. Maybe that is coming through. Thank you for reading Christine. 🤓💜
