Happy Father’s Day

***I wrote this poem 2 years ago when I finally came to terms with what had happened to me. Be aware that this can be a trigger poem.***

All around the world
from east to west
children celebrate their fathers
while I wish you dead.
Wait…..
you already are….
dead that is
although you haunt my nights
you haunt my memories
terrorizing me still.
Creeping and scurrying
hoping that none see
you stole my childhood
when all trusted you
to keep me sheltered.
I seriously cannot account
for the hatred that I feel
I would rather stab you in the heart
than acknowledge you as my procreator.
Did you think that I would fear
the gates of hell?
Did you think that I would not dance with the devil
if only to watch you burn?
It turns out
that I am capable of murder
for all the troubles you did cause
I have been promised
that when I arrive in Hell
I will be your tormentor
as you have been mine.

A single hard working mom of a soon to be teenage son. A poet and story teller I have wanted to write since I was a child. This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom

  1. Powerful indeed. Acknowledge the pain but don’t let it sit. Siting it festers and eats from within. May this have been a cathartic release and something to remind from time to time, but not linger. A milestone of where you have been. For all that went before makes us who we are today. I hope you are liking who you are today, at least more days than not. Be well, stay safe, choose happy. (Easier said than done, but it is good to have targets to shoot for, unless you shoot you will never hit.)
