Wings of Wax

****Just a note that this is not how I feel now.****
Scars
intersect bisect
sinews taut
muscles abused
face
ridged
scream of rictus.
Black eyed
bleak
tears
boulders upon cheeks
shoulders slump
fear reigns
shadows creeping
peeking
under the bed
monsters lay not there
but upon the bed.
Never leaving
insinuating
whispering
voice always in the ear
in my mind
dragging me down
dredging up old memories.
Stare at the ceiling
blank
numb
digging fingers into mattress
keep me grounded
keep me sane
for if I let go
higher I shall fly
encumbered no longer
until the sun swallows me whole.

A single hard working mom of a soon to be teenage son. A poet and story teller I have wanted to write since I was a child. This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom
