Failure to Pay

Gaze
ever upwards
eyes slitted
remorse
given so much time
given so much energy
forgiven
time
and again
only ever
burst into conflagration.
I am broken.
There is nothing more
the well
this well
untapped
drained
vile men
lands once fertile
shattered
cracked
dirt filters through the air
no more…..
no more can I take
pollution
deforestation
man’s folly
raping
over and over
believing
never shall the piper be paid.
Night has fallen
moonlight
eyes peering
water
calamity is coming
my view
one last loving look
once abundant terrain
rock hard
sustaining life no more
as behind
deafening crescendo
waves building
surging
what once was
is no more.

This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom

  1. This poem feels like the end of everything is just there, in sight but still slightly out of reach. Weird feeling I know, but I kind of liked the feeling it left me with. I’m going away to ponder it lol Loved the poem, as usual. You never disappoint! xxx
