Word of the Day Challenge #116-Untitled Poem

women were chattel
men could do as they pleased
when they pleased
with whom they pleased.
No one could say…..
No one could deny…..
they were top of the species pile.
that one is open to debate.
Bible in one hand
port in the other
virtues of owning flesh
devouring souls
while crooning on their knees.
Everything forgiven
by the man in the sky
ignoring the rest
giving unto these select
the truth
the way
the sickening belief
no wrong can be done
for anointed they were.
Toss away
fragile humans
no longer a pawn
no longer able to be used
garbage heap
noble bearing
shame on you
piece of filth.
Sepia pictures
gracing privileged walls
made real
cronyism blatant display
once thought to have been eradicated
slowly encroaching…..
slowly eroded…..

A single hard working mom of a soon to be teenage son. A poet and story teller I have wanted to write since I was a child. This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom
