Stand Tall

Autumn’s rot
wet foliage
shredded
browns
golds
crimsons
scent of decay
filling nostrils
not unpleasant
not to be worn as perfume
climbing upward
heart racing
eyes trained
no prize
no destiny
new road
new desire
for self
reach high
never stop
obstacles
not a one
but your own
indifference
your own…..
neglect
has brought this brokenness
this sickness you wish to excise.
Hill steepens
breath gasped
stop
pause
turn…..
mauve
pink
golden rays
reach
seek
upturned face
tears
unremarked
never felt
cleansed
found
peace
serenity
beauty
fall to knees
head bent
sorrows awashed
burgeoning sense
acceptance
forgiveness
care
for faults
for sins
for errors plowed.
Stand
head back
shoulders square
face foreward
no more back
each step
study of earnestment
life to be lived
shadowed no more.
