I am not a doctor.
***My way of checking for Covid is not endorsed by any medical personnel.***
Tember is not feeling well.
Sniffles.
Sore throat.
Wee cough.
Slight headache but no Motrin required.
No fever.
No aches.
No muscle aches.
I could go through the entire list but no need.
He is not infected with Covid but the stupidity of burgeoning malehood rides high on his shoulders.
I know how he got sick.
All weekend long the boy ran around in his shorts.
Went to his buddy’s and they sat around in the hot tub talking.
Then he walked home.
I need to state he did not walk home with wet shorts on he carried those.
-2 with a wind. (33.8 F)
Five minute walk for me.
10ish or so for the child not moving fast.
Hit home when I was watching out the window for him worrying that it was taking so long.
When I wake him up I can tell that he is feeling under the weather.
And I cannot send him to school like this.
I had on Monday but it was not like this.
Me: Can you still smell?
T: Mom my nose is stuffed up.
Me: Can you still taste?
T: I don’t know.
And that is when my new Check for Covid app kicked in.
I had finished putting nourishing oil in my hair before going into wake Tember up. Which meant I had some on my fingers still.
Me: Do you want me to shove my fingers in your mouth? See if you can taste anything?
Tember did not even answer at first.
His entire face contorted with disgust as I burst out laughing.
He cracked his eyes at me while I howled.
T: Mom just no.
I can’t help it.
My default.
Believe me my heart was racing.
My mind was going whoa a second what is going on?
I am rapidly cycling through contact outside of school.
I know that it is only a cold.
The look on Tember’s face when I offered the fingers was confirmation enough that he is suffering with a regular cold.
I did keep him home yesterday and today as well he is going to his dad’s for the day.
His dad’s week and I have work.
I will call the school and let them know he is out again today.
I would rather be safe than sorry and we do not want a Typhoid Tember running around town.
Have a Wonderful and Safe Wednesday all.

This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments.

Feel better soon Tember!! So cliche but…it’s better to be safe than sorry. Rest does wonders for the body.

Coffee granules in one shot glass and mints in another “close you eyes and sniff” worked when my son had a cold the other week. Hope you avoid catching Tembers cold🤞

Thank you. I am keeping him home one more day. He has a cough but otherwise feels ok. Just thought wiser. 🤓💜

Lol, typhoid Tember!
It’s funny how our minds are going straight to COVID whether we want to or not. My middle son, who is staying with me right now, was feeling bad yesterday too. Body aching, sore throat…
At first I thought maybe, then realized he’d been out in the night air the night before, drinking and smoking too, so probably more like allergies and a hangover, lol!

Mom brains at work. At least we are both able to realize the cause and not work ourselves into a panic. Now though there have been 25 confirmed cases in the plant my Ex works at. All I can say is we are both thankful he works alone.

He is. Like me he goes to work and home pretty much. I am keeping my fingers crossed he is going to be well. He is a diabetic and though it is controlled via diet and exercise he is still at risk.
