Do you feel it?
Late at night
long after all are asleep
but you
contemplating
drunk
ramblings of yesteryear
when
great
you thought you were
truth be told
joke runs high
nothing of you
shall carry on.
Can you feel the air?
Cold
goose pimpled flesh
fleshless fingers
touch
caress
sweating face
unable to see
shrieking banshee
standing
arms akimbo
head back
not with pain
not with sorrow
with derision
with malice
they really cannot wait to have you back.
Years of believing
money solves all ills
only to discover
deep in dark night
when none shall come
as you call
whispered scream
ringed around the bed
watching
blank black eyes
lives destroyed
callous disregard
for anything but self.
Waiting
silent mirth
as you batter in fear
feral desperation
hearing
death knell tolled
as dead women reach
this is your life no more.
