Emmie Untitled Poem #5

Freezing
white
all around
flesh
blue tinged
standing still
punishment
black hair
blowing
northern wind
tears
crystal
leaving lids
burning cheeks
barely…..
Awaken
tell me true
what is it
that happened to you.
No.
This is your therapy.
This is so you will get well.
Emmellia do you not want to be well?
What is well to you?
I am fine.
I live here in a beautiful home.
I have friends.
I like living here.
You promised I would never have to leave.
Child peering
can you see
fear radiating
vibrating
wild animal
caught
cornered
which way out
deep breath
in
out
the woman returns.
Now Emmie…..
Emmellia…..
You know that you are unable to leave.
If you do it is to the big house for you.
The Electric Chair.
Voice muted.
Head falls forward.
Muttering.
Lean back.
Scribble notes.
Watching from corner of eye.
Almost see…..
sense…..
the change in her
a decision made
smile
licks at her lips
not seen before.
Are you ready?
For the start?
It is not pretty.
It is not for the faint of heart.
Eyes fixed
dancing fire
wood crackle
perfect setting
for the nightmare about to be told.

A single hard working mom of a soon to be teenage son. A poet and story teller I have wanted to write since I was a child. This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom
