Monsters in Sight

Takes
one word
one explanation
heard in background
flash
sudden realization
actions
submerged under water
forgotten?
cringe worthy
shy away
why now
what memories
creep
invading
no matter
voices screaming
no
in head
turn away
shield eyes
heart
never learn the truth
easier to stay blind
it hurts less
it means less
when nothing is searched for.
Child scared
scarred
looking to hurt self
any way one can
to forget the pain
to forget
that no one loved her enough
that no one cared enough
to protect her from the monsters
hiding beneath her bed.
