I am fairly confident by now that most of my regular readers know that I am a little sarcastic.
Seriously.
Only a little.
But oh the sarcasm that I have finally learned how to type is the best.
The ex is a McDonald’s coffee fanatic.
Having withdrawals as our one and only in the entire city of just over 20,000 or so has closed the drive thru for the next month due to renovations.
He posted a picture of him holding a Tim’s coffee and whining.
He has also threatened to moved back to his parents for the next month as they live in the city city and have access to multiple McDonald’s.
He has a good sense of humor especially when my comment is this:
Hey you know that fancy thing on your counter? That one with the fancy buttons? Has a well where you fill water and a special basket for a filter? That is a coffee maker and low and behold did you know that in the grocery store they actually sell McDonald’s coffee?
I am dying laughing.
It is so nice of him to provide me with a source of constant amusement.
Apparently it is not the same.
And really should I the coffee snob be mocking him?
Maybe not but that is ok what else are ex-husbands for?
Also because I am about to share a story of my own idiocy.
Where did I go wrong that myself and electronics just do not get along?
Laptop blows up two years in a row.
And my Fire Stick from Amazon…..
I purchased the fire stick as a treat to myself for my birthday.
When I received it I paired the remote to my t.v. as per the instructions and went merrily on my way.
Or thought I did.
I had issues keeping the remote paired.
Or it would turn on the t.v. but not do anything else.
Unplug/Replug in and voila it works for everything.
Turning t.v. on.
Volumn control.
(My program is underlining volumn as misspelled.
Reality is I am old and that is how I learned to spell it as a kid.
When I checked the dictionary re spelling it called my way archaic)
Navigating the home page.
I finally got tired of dealing with it and called.
I wrote about that a while back my conversation with them.
I received a new remote.
Still had the same problem.
Finally yesterday when I called it was determined that I would receive a new Fire Stick and send the old one back.
No problem right?
Well no they cannot create a return label at the time and I should rebuy it and they will then refund me the price when they received the old one back.
Nope.
Not doing it.
Went back and forth a bit and I held firm.
A manager approved crediting the amount to a gift card and I would reorder.
Absolutely.
Get home from work and check the account.
Money is on ”gift card’ in account.
I get busy tidying and cleaning given someone ‘forgot’ to do his chores.
He did redeem himself in that he helped me to clean and even began dinner for me.
Actually he cooked the whole steak and made the salad.
Potatoes which were to go in microwave for 5 minutes ended up going in oven for 20 when he did not read packaging.
Sat down to supper and decided that I would order the new fire stick.
Open up Amazon and search and of course there are an array.
I look at the one I had purchased previously and then looked at the one a price point higher.
Went back and forth.
Scrolled down on the original one that I ordered and:
This remote does not turn your t.v. on or off.
This remote does not control the volumn on your t.v.
Huh?
What?
Mine turns my t.v. on and off.
Mine controls the volumn.
It just so happens that for it to also navigate the home screen I needed to unplug and replug back in. (See above)
Obviously I want a one stop shop remote.
Only why does mine work once the power source is interrupted and reset?
Stumped I was but I ordered the next one up.
This morning as I sit here it suddenly dawns on me what I read last night.
For shits and giggles I grab the t.v. remote and turn the t.v. on.
I grab the Fire Stick remote and aim it at the t.v. not in the least expecting that it was going to work.
When it does.
While I wonder why when I explained over and over that I had to unplug to get the remote to work turning t.v. on and off/control volumn/navigate home page someone did not twig on and ask if I had tried it this way?
I do not blame the customer service rep at all.
Maybe I should have read a little bit better?
A little closer?
My new Fire Stick is on its way.
Due to arrive by Sunday May 16.
I will let you know what happens once I have installed it.
Have a great Tuesday everyone.
PS: 7 days and 3 hours until holidays.
