Ode to the Women in my Life

I am very lucky in that I have several women in my life that I am honored to call friend.
Each one has become a sister to me.
As I call it they have become Framily.
Friends who became family.
Without these women my life would be so much less:
-bright
-fun
-filled with humor
-filled with support
-filled with confidence
With these women in my life it is so much:
-love
-acceptance
-no judgement (well a little but c’mon who does not like freshly ground coffee or have their own incense guy?-M)(I am the one who has these things)
-truth no matter how painful
-hugs
-safe space

There are days that I think they sometimes fear that they are fading.
Away with the responsibilities of life, family, bills, jobs.
Looking back and knowing that is not where they want to be but where can they go that will comfort them?
Where can they find the succor that they so desire?
I cannot answer them that.

This is for them. The women that I am so proud to call my soul sisters; we chose one another and that means everything.
And y’all put up with my idiosyncrasies.

I see you.
I see the tears
falling behind the smiling mask
cracked
broken
struggling to hold the world
the one that you carry
independent to a fault
determined to owe no one
determined to prove
strength by doing it all.
I see you.
I see the sadness that penetrates
tinging dreams
packed away in dusty suitcases
beneath the stairs
waiting for you
patiently.
I see you.
I see the pain the spreads
unbidden
unwanted
deeply entwined
only able to hold you
to comfort you as you cry
as you scream
as you mourn
as you rage
I will help you
to carry that pain through
out the other side
where waits…..
the life you have chosen.

My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom

  1. I don’t think we chose each other. Rather, I think we were given to each other or we found each other. It was inevitable that we would be soul sisters.

  2. Tears. Girl you’ve made me cry way too much this week. I feel honored to know I have a place here and no matter how small it may be I cherish it deeply❣️
