Next Time I’ll Use a Pen!

T and I were in the car getting ready for our first stop at the gas station. I already had my mask on which was really disturbing to T. He was afraid that people were going to make fun of me. T could not understand why I had it on already.

When I got back into the car I reset the trip meter and started the car. We drove off and discussed how paying $42.00 to fill my tank was not bad given I only had to do it once every four weeks. Given my 3.6 km drive to and from work (7.2 km round trip) per day with two days off and able to walk anywhere I needed to downtown.

As we were turning the corner I realized that I had not taken my mask off and yanked it off. Looking over at T I could see him looking at me with a wry grin.

I was trying to explain to him that he needs to tell me about these things. That I am so use to wearing it that I will walk to the car after work and can be driving before I would remember to take it off. He could not believe this and was trying to figure it out.

I happened to look over at T as he was flicking his hand toward me and he poked me in the eye. I started to laugh and he sorta sputtered before laughing as well.

I wanted to know why he would poke me in the eye? He had no real response except to say that next time he would use the pen. And then he jabbed me with it.

A single hard working mom of a soon to be teenage son. A poet and story teller I have wanted to write since I was a child. This space is where I share stories about myself and my life and the creative poetry that stirs my soul. My hope is you will pull up a chair and a cup of coffee delving into the world that I offer and you find simple enjoyment for a few moments. Welcome to The Wonderful & Wacky World of One Single Mom
