Callous Indifference

When she called
you turned your back
content with your disgust
your unending anger
for your golden child failed
never rising to the bar you had set
never following the dreams you wrote.
How dare she?
Turned away from the life the you dreamt
from the path you wrote
forging her own way
her own dreams
without a thought to your needs
wants
desires.
Now standing
rain soaked
grey life resides
even though the sun does shine
her light forever gone
the golden child has become no more
does you rigidness offer you cold comfort at night?
Does your disdain hold you close?
Does the righteous anger wipe your tears?
Staring at her name
trembling finger caresses
carved into marble
dates
gone so young
never taking the hand held out
a chance for reconciliation
now gone.
