On my way to work this morning I was listening to the radio. A young boy in Winnipeg had collect 889 pairs of socks or socks for Main Street Project homeless program. He was adorable to listen to. When they asked him why he had done this his answer made me smile and tear up.
Boy: Because it was in my heart.
He could not have been more than 4 or 5.
In a world where the headlines tend to be all about the negative; the wars, the people taking advantage of other people, kids acting like assholes, men yelling abuse at women and children I could go on and on; this little guy’s answer was so heartwarming.
As I was listening I realized how much joy I was taking from this story. And it lead me to think of one of my cards that I had drawn this morning.
Joy cannot be chased. It must be experienced with innocence and no agenda. The more one runs after it, the further away it seems to be.
