Lost Hope

I have been made voiceless
tongue torn
letters stolen
eyes gouged
scales no longer balance
pain
hatred
so heavy
so prevalent
kindness
joy
short supply
becoming smaller each day.
I have been made sightless
blinded
greed
wealth
poverty
injustice
turn away
can cry no more.
My value diminishes
light going out
when processed
in bytes
in numbers on the page
inflated
deflated
too late
I had believed.
Civilization is crumbling
made null and void
as the rich become richer
on death of the poor.
I too
now a part of the problem
but tired
weary
unable to fight
tears fall
I have given up.
I can only hope
someone will take my mantle up.

I found it back in 2017 and still pops back up
now and again as an appropriate image.

Word of the Day Challenge #95-Untitled Poem

He was a great man
he was a beast
He helped all he came to him
he stole from those
needing aid
He beget an empire
children of whores
He reigned with selflessness
he ruled with blood
iron maiden
killing his dissidents
his enemies.
He slew the innocent
gave voice to evil
clapped the devil on the back
black lit deals
money in the casket
leaving all others to cry
war mongering
battle lines drawn
time to batten down.
Top to bottom
great man
praises sung
full of lies
we knew the truth
we knew the reality
history will not be replayed
it was his time to die
of that I was sure.

War #1

A wasted land
barren
soil sered
dust devils rise.
Skeletal branches
reaching towards an atmosphere
seeking sunlight
searching for oxygen
needed to survive.
Danger tinged air
filled with venomous particles
as the masses huddle beneath
caught up in a boiling war
of ‘my dick is bigger than his!’
