Holiday

Striding along
no fear of the world
moving through crowds
cowl shaped
unseen
dancing in the sun.
Holidays are short and sweet
actually rarely taken
so the decision to make a day
moving through masses of humanity
ignoring
the violence
the hatred
the damaged souls
concentrating on the sun
sand
clean smell of the beach air.
Death strolls along
scythe in hand
sand between his toes
robe to be discarded
when he finds a place to laze his bones.

My Fault

I first saw him
standing along the shoreline
quiet contemplation
handsome brow
lean physique.
I slowly walked by
furtitive glances from beneath my lashes
wondering if he noticed me
at all?
I found the courage
the ability to say hello
though my voice cracked
my hands trembled
I stuttered over my tongue.
We talked
listened
heard the stories
each had to tell
so smart
intelligent
caring
he had me fooled.
Waters painted golden
blood red
by the setting sun
he turned to me
tender smile….
pushing me back
he ripped my clothing
telling me it was all my fault.
With tears on my cheeks
I stared beyond his heaving shoulder
my infatuation destroyed
savaged
murdered
as the misdeed went on.

Single Moment

Today’s world moves too fast
minutes that pass as seconds
hours and days that pass in a single blink
that everyone has forgotten…..
the joy of slowing down
the elation at seeing the sun rise
the aroma of freshly blossomed buds
wet dew dampening toes
in the summer morning.
Waves watched
sand castles built
setting sun
turning the water
a golden hue
children taking a final swim
before the day is done.
enjoyment
fun in the sun
I do believe
it is time to slow down
to take part
in the joy of the life around me.

Untitled Prompt #1

Day dreams

sun bleached driftwood

a belching of black seaweed

using a stick to create a heart

drawing our initials

wanting to hold your hand

feel your warmth.

Sitting here

the sun ending its day

falling beneath the waves

the tide  rolling in

erasing my heart

erasing our initials

putting an end to all I dream.
