Blind we Are….

Much as our ability to give great advice to others while unable to apply to our own lives the same goes when you are deep in a situation sometimes you are unable to see what is right there.

My own thought from a conversation with a friend.

Word of the Day Challenge #76-Untitled Poem

I was sitting in the comfort of my chair
watching the news
my reality one of first world problems
there is nothing for me to worry.
Cold
watching the scenes of devestation
desensitized
picture after picture
showing death
hunger
unrepentant greed
what is this world that we create
condone
with the click of a button
we can make it all go away.
Spun around
up and away
torn from safety
dropped in the war
any war
so I can see….
the truth
the brutality
to become aware
that within my own inaction
I give to men
men who care nothing of me
power to run my life
dictate to me
while docile
tame at their feet.
Fight for nothing
other than to keep from finding peace
as the money maker would become obsolete.
Rich men becoming richer
upon all those unnecessary deaths.
Eyes wide open
awake
I can no longer deny
a nasty taste left in my mouth
acid tears seep
poison in my soul
I shall never again sleep.

How Uncaring…..

Walking down the sidewalk
millions of people around
lost in my own little bubble
pulling in
drawing in
making myself small of notice.
I am not worthy
I am not allowed
to have the beauty
to have the love of life that all others carry.
Time
more time has proven me right
that I falter and fall
tears slashing my face
as I howl with pain
with rage
with despair.
As I lay here
mouth wrenched in silent scream
all who pass by
cast a cursory glance
before moving on.
