Banal Acquisition

Once upon a time
the way all fairy tales start
prince comes
princess goes
flamboyant man
simpering woman
they deserve one another.
Sit through
another grotesque dinner
japes made
feelings shredded
believing
this is reality
chin on hand
glaring over wine cup
sneering
omg
this is the best of them?
Have you heard
how I will save
the country
the economy
everything
god
worship at my feet
marry me
no one else can beat.
Have you
never seen
curled lip
derision at words
falling
disgust laced
too stupid to realize.
Parade
a’fore me
measure of men
jesters
jackasses
so sick am I
of
strength of stupidity
let them rule
crowed at me.
Shake my head
must make a choice
damn tedious
listening to all the boasting
savior naught
sycophants lie
too bad
you cannot see that.

Bog Monster

Lilting
on the air
love song
gentle dream.
Golden hours
long slippery nights
time in a bubble
a desire
a love affair
ever so rare
or so I thought.
Woven fantasies
spoken
dreams created
wisps of smoke
waiting
wanting
spoke to me
of fairy tales.
Always wanted my fairy prince
my knight in shining armour
my king
to lay with queenly self
to call forth passion
to ease the inner ache
I constantly feel.
I would like to know
within the multitude of frogs I have kissed
have you any advice
what do I need to change
so y’all will stay in the swamp?

Queenly Insanity

Thrown to the wolves
left to fend
for self
for child
thought to die
laughed as snow began to fall
revenge sought
retribution done
requital I swore
even as I fell to my knees.
I crawled.
I wept.
I thought to freeze to death.
No…..
I would not let you win.
I would not let you crown
another in my place
in my space
she…..
two faced whore.
I strove
pulling self to feet
courage
rage
kept me moving
as thunder roared
heart beating.
always have been
it would behoove you
to remember.
For come I will
in dead of night
pay the toll dear
will you and she
while I sit above
watching you bleed.

Word of the Day Challenge#81-Untitled Poem

Screams
fuzzy dreams
sticky wet
eyes barely able to open
head pounding
what is all that banging
why is the bed all wet?
Memories prick
hazy
peering through muslin
mouth tacky
had something been in the wine
he had plied her with?
Struggle to sit upright
flounder
what is wrong
why so hard to move
limbs leaden
fear begins to burgeon
something was very wrong.
Rage
hot
fiery
body burning as the lash lands
turning fear to ash
slip away
he will never notice
the blank stare.
His unseeing eyes meet hers
gasp
pull back
knife
bejewled
straight through the heart
all stare at her
sly smile on her face.
Wisdom is not always the way of the crone
mistress of darkness
feeder of damaged souls
knew danger to come
sacrifice virginal blood
tormented savage
to keep this world safe.

Fury’s Child

‘Welcome to my world’
hissed the spider to the fly
bound in poisonous silk
could only squeak.

Big bad wolf
frothing at the mouth
cannot wait
to get his paws
his claws into her.
So innocent
demure
sweet
never marred
never broken
or so they did think.
He stalked her through forests
gardens
towns
as she pranced through life
or so did they believe.
No worries
no cares
taken care of by grandma
never harmed
never blooded.
Reckoning was coming
only none were aware
except grandma
who sacrificed her life
to create the beast this child would become.
Slashes through the night
gaping wounds
throats cut
rage pouring
she ran through the night
howling.
Big Bad Wolf heard her
head shaking
suddenly realizing
she the huntress
he her prey.

Fairy Tale

Luckless

drifting along

dreams lost

unsettled

broken.

So many times

life intervenes

choices are made…..

I cannot perceive

the path that must be followed

bringing me here.

Crossroads appearing

undecided.

Left or right?

North or south?

I spin

eyes blinded

dizzy

stop

see where my finger points.

Left

haloed in sunlight

aroma of lilacs

happiness flits by.

Left

leading me to you

my footsteps

dancing in delight.

Moving forward

a smile upon my lips

I realize all at once

serendipity

has played a part

in bringing us together.

Found

Swirling

dipping

filling me with fear.

Giddy

silly

filling me with laughter.

I do not understand.

I do not comprehend.

You came out of the night

when I least expected it

when I was least looking for it

although I am unsure

what ‘It’ is I am searching for.

In your eyes I find desire.

In your arms I find comfort.

In your kisses I taste no regrets.

This plethora of emotions

they have made me undone

like a teenager head over heels

in love.
