You know…..
you think…..
I would have been smarter.
After all I read the tales.
I know Snow White bites it
based on the Witch’s desire.
I know Hansel & Gretel
they nearly become Witch fodder
as they were fat and juicy.
Yet when I saw the path
that lush and leafy broadway
I had to explore
I had to go forth
into the forest.
The trees closed in
the avenue came to an end
before me stood the Witch’s Den.
I pushed through the door
leaned my head in
and there she stood,
the Witch
who would become my scourge.
Beckoning me forth
drawn to her I was
deep in the forest.
‘Help me find my love,’
I begged
hands out in supplication
and she cackled.
Lightning flared
thunder boomed
I fell to my knees grasping my head.
He stood before me
light and emerald
diamond gleamed
reaching his hand to me.
I lunge
green hair spilling
and I grimaced
the ache so deep in my bone.
She took a step forward
and with a cheeky grin
grabbed his hand
leading him out into the wood.
The Witch of the Woods
she will draw you in…..
when she does
she will entrap
turning herself into you
running for freedom
leaving you behind
deep in the forest.
