My Ex

A while back I wrote about how my ex and me were getting along and I realized how much I had matured. Well today I took that one step further. Today I looked passed the man who made me unhappy and spoke to my friend.

This is a man who at one point and time I loved. It is not his fault nor is it mine that in the end we just were not happy together. We are such very different people with little in common.

Today was the first time that we had a conversation in a long time. And we both laughed. Not the fake ‘yeah get out of my face you are annoying me’ laugh but a real laugh. One that sets the other to laughing.

We also still have inside jokes and can say things to one another that we are unable to say to anyone else. There have been a few times, where I have been spitting mad and the only one I can vent to is him.

In talking with a girl friend today, she informed me that I was taking the mature route with him. All I had said was his girlfriend was good for him.

And I no longer had to take care of him.

This man is helpless as a baby attempting to organize a tea party. I sent him numerous texts regarding the dates he had T over the summer. I also sent him several screen shots of my calender so he had it. Finally his girlfriend messaged me asking what the dates were.

That is only one example.

I can afford to be nice and decent to him. I am happy and in a great place in my life. And I really am working hard to let go of negativity.

It was easy to be angry with my ex when I left. I was blaming him for my unhappiness. Which really is unfair because I had a hand in my own unhappiness. I could have stood firm when I tried to leave three months prior to everything imploding.

Now though…I am in my own space. I am writing daily. My relationship with my son and mom are amazing.

So yes, I can afford to be kind with M2. And I even like his girlfriend even though we have not really spoken. But she is excellent with T and that more than anything makes me like K3.(Lol too many K’s- best friend, Auntie and now M2’s girl friend. M1 being my bestie.)

M2 loves T with all his heart. And at the end of the day that is all that is important. He is doing his best to be a great dad. Our failure to make our marriage last aside he will always be my friend.

Naked

I stand, naked before the mirror, looking at my flaws;

a thickening waist, breasts that are beginning to sag,

a small belly from carrying my son…

I am aging.

When I was 12, 18 seemed so far away

when I was 18, 25 was a century away

When I was 27,  I cried my first set of tears

because now I knew what it meant to be aging.

At 30 I learned that the turbulent emotions I have felt for years

the anger and rage that I spewed on my family

Was due to undiagnosed depression;

the fact I needed to sedate and obliviate

was something I figured was due.

At 35 I discovered I was pregnant and spent my time in fear

for previously I had lost my daughter,

and how could I go through that again?

My child was born a tribute to his father;

identical in looks I would say

But as he grew and aged the truth became apparent,

after his mother does he take.

Now I am 44 and before the mirror I do stand;

I see my flaws, my double chins, the crow’s feet around my eyes

but I have a better understanding, I am more free

from the child I was, the child I crave to be;

Peter Pan rides my dreams, for Neverland is true.

Hello everyone

So I have to admit that I am not entirely sure what I am doing here. I have a really good friend who is also a writer and she suggested strongly I start a blog. I do not even know what to write about.

I am a simple woman with simple wants and needs. I want to teach my son how to be a strong independent living man. The opposite of my ex.

I work 40+ hours in retail grocery and my god customers are fodder for a lot of my stories. Because who would actually believe that another human  could act like that.

I have a crew of girls at work who I laugh with and who hug me when I cry. They are the ones who help me to keep sane during my daily trials.

My BFF is my next door neighbor and her son is my son’s best friend as well. She is planning to move to the city at the end of June. I refuse to acknowledge this new reality until I absolutely have to. She and me take bathroom breaks at work solely so we can text one another.

And than the is the BF. He has no idea that I am planning on writing a blog. He is sweet and caring. Likes my son and is a dutiful son himself. He is going back home for New Year’s as well which has made me sad.

Oh yeah and there will  discussions about all things adult and immature. Poop, farts, the weirdness of life and the amazing world of sex.

Welcome to my weird little world I hope you will enjoy  read.
