Word of the Day Challenge #110-Untitled Poem

‘Brilliant.’
‘Saviour’
‘Leader’
‘Handsome’
‘Savy’
‘Sauve’
Lauded
list of adjectives
used to describe
blatant flattery
power grabbed
held on tight
know that to lose
means a loss
ego taking a blow
pushed over edge.
Private armies
amassed upon concrete walls
guns pointed
at masses of public
calling for change
calling for life
calling for equality.
Ignominious
ramble
fantasies built
delusions fed
time has come
to erase
depraved kingdom.
Televised
chased with more than two syllables
a moron
does you make.

Ashed Past

Come to me children of the streets
let me tell you
how this present came to mete
how lost we became
so very lost
time will tell if ever one can return.
Once upon a time
for every cautionary tale does begin
a man
so callous
so arrogant
decided that his birthright
was to rule the world.
Bluster
muster
his followers
from all walks
no one could understand
still today we shake our heads.
Craven
bullied his way
to the top
crony taught
black magic
called the Devil
deal was made
and poof…..
he had his every desire.
Despot
thrilled with considered power
doled out
punishment
death to those
who dared to contradict
who dared to try to wrest control.
Any deal with the Devil
fraught with clauses
contradictions
failed to read right
can end to detriment
to death of all
the world
the populace
destroyed for one vain little boy.
Enraged
clause enacted;
Act a baboon
be a baboon
off to the zoo with you!
Damage done
now we wait
life to return
to abundance.
Until that time children of the night
children of the street
always remember
getting all you want
will always come with grave consequences.
