Invisible Movement

Were I to sit roadside
hands held out
sign asking for alms
would you see me?
Were I to stand at the bus stop
teeth chattering
sodden by rain
needing a fix
would you really see me?
Were I to sit next to you
meeting upon meeting
late night after late night
pressed into duty
pressed against the desk
would you ever see me again?
I am but one of the invisible
fallen amongst the cracks
head down
eye frown
look not upon the great
who can do no wrong
who can rape
who can plunder
who can murder without fear
alas
the day will come…..
judge not lest you be judge
bastardization for bastards
cower
betray
fall…..
pain reaped for pain
desolation for desolation
rejection
anguish
fear
all yours times tenfold.

Harsh Reality

***There is a lot of anger here and I am not sure where it all came from. I thought this was going to be a cutesy poem about being little and it morphed big time.
Once when I was little
I fell from the sky
bruised my knee
which a quick kiss
fixed.
Once when I was little
I was full of questions
so I experimented
with things
maybe I should not have.
Then I began to grow
as is the way of children
began to see the world around
realized
fear did begin to grow
that this is what my life was
an always would be.
I am a woman.
I am a mother.
I am a daughter.
I am a sister.
I am an Aunt.
My list goes on and on…..
this is not to say
hey look at me
see how great I am?
No this is a list
I would like men to look at
those who have difficulty with a concept
that no means no
do not touch
get out of my face
does not mean
please progress.
Look at that list
close as can be
for I know none of you
were born
fully formed
from Zeus’ forehead.
Now I ask
how does it make you feel
to think of those women
your family women attacked?
Scared to walk through the streets?
Looking over their shoulder
fearing rape?
Can you tell me true
does it not bother you
enrage you
to think of someone
without consent
touching them…….
that is what you do
when you degrade women
believe we are toys to play with.
Think twice
before you touch
think of mom
sister too
if that does not stop you
maybe a gun will.

Do Not/Am Not

Hey Diddle Diddle
The Cat had a Fiddle
And The Cow Jumped over the mooooooooon……….

Fairy tales
nursery rhymes
all taught to little girls
little boys
as the epitome of life.
All girls are damsels.
All guys knights in shining armour
with a few villains thrown in
one must keep the story interesting.
I do not want fairy tales.
I do not want a knight in shining armour.
I do not want to be a princess.
Frail
weak
delicate little flower
taught men are superior.
An untruth made real
fed to feed the egos of sensitives
who need to feel powerful
at the expense of others.
This curse
uttered not with care
has become a reality
falling down through decades
trailing through the centuries
one we struggle to counteract to this day.
I am not a Princess Fair.
I am a Dragon Warrior.
I will burn you with my fire.
I will taste your tears.
I will no longer bow.
Rise up
stand tall
for together we can do so much more.

Taking Back…..

Sugar and Spice
everything nice
that is what girls are made of.
Hell no
we won’t go.
Leave us our rights
our abilities.
Since the inception of time
men have stood
swinging their clubs
making women sheep.
Finally now
hear us roar
a woman’s movement on the rise.
No longer shall we be silenced
tied up
beaten into submission
our voices will rise.
Glass ceiling
shattering
shards of glass spew down
shredding those
who have stood here
using power to get their way.
Fear the night
looming shadows within
for come time
women will surge
darkness will be overcome.
Women will never ever
have to run again.

Brazen Beauty

A million dresses
thousands of shoes
lost in a revelry of pride
floating along
paid by the hour
ever man her sign.
A beauty of yesteryear
lost in the illusion
grand
elegant
graceful
dancing with each who asks
pleasure alive on her face.
As a child she had been taunted
belittled
scorned
for the way that she looked.
Kids can be cruel
words can cut so deep
scars left
that no one can see
but are still felt.
brazen beauty
gliding amongst the throng
her place firmly set
by the generous curves
of her body
the sharp intelligence of her mind
and crooked wit to sting them all.

High Rent Girl

You be thinking….
thinking
you a high rent girl
waiting for a sugar daddy
or just a daddy
to pay your bills.
You spend your time
your money
on looking ferocious
ignoring those who need care…..
because to dance a dance
to catch a mate
or rather a protector
bill payer
just another man to milk.
You strut
saunter
think that you look hot
but darlin’ please
you look like a silly twat.
Be thinking you a high rent girl
that any man would be lucky to have you.
Honey hate to burst that bubble
you ain’t no high rent girl
only a low rent bitch.

Morality Gone

You stood there

decrying it all

anti-violence

anti-bullying

anti-sexual assaults

anti-war

anti anything that would get your name in the paper.

Reality is

when we looked behind the curtain

drew it back on your sins

we found you were not quite true.

Bullier

of men

of women

of children……

Rapist

of land

of women

values…..

Abuser

of position

of power

of women….

War Monger

stirring the pot

whispers of rumors in one ear

money in the hands of another….

With eyes wide open

all finally see

the truth of this matter

as we weep……

You are

anti-peace

anti-safety

anti-women

anti- everything that is moral and right.
