pompadour flouted
in defiance
of all that is natural.

screaming spittle
words
not making sense
shock
suddenly turned upon
who knew
reality would so soon intrude?
Dodge
bullets sail past
small slight of hand
adjust tin crown
no one will knock
King Merry-Andrew down.
From pitted pedestal
extolled greatness
upon black death of civilization
a bleak nightmare
to be sure
if continued unchecked.
